Suse command line update
May 20, 2008 – 16:14Have to upgrade php from 4.3.4 to 5.x to enable some Moodle functions like global search.
I once had a Suse installation on my desktop but there I used the yast gui which is quite intuitive. Now I only have ssh connection so I have to use the command line. After some google-ing I found online_update which should be able to do the job. On the other hand, maybe it’s just a patching tool and can’t install new packages.
online_update -k : to show available updates
OK, that’s not the way, Yast has a ncurses interface so I’ll use that. Bummer: seems Suse wants me to upgrade to 10 or add custom repos. Since we don’t manage that particular server I like to keep my pants on. Going ahead with 4.3.4 .
